Agreeing on plans through iterated disputes

چکیده
Autonomous agents transcend their individual capabilities by cooperating towards achieving shared goals. The different viewpoints agents have on the environment cause disagreements about the anticipated effects of plans. Reaching agreement requires the resolution of such inconsistencies and the alignment of the agents’ viewpoints. We present a dialogue protocol that enables agents to discuss candidate plans and reach agreements. The dialogue is based on an argumentation process in the language of situation calculus. Agreement is reached through persuasion, thereby aligning the planning beliefs of the agents. We describe our abstract iterated dialogue protocol, and extend it for the specific problem of arguing about plans. We show that our method always terminates and produces sound results. Furthermore, we detail a set of extensions to simplify reasoning and reduce the exchanged information.

The Market for Law
Consider a society in which the production and enforcement of law is entirely private. Individuals contract with rights enforcement firms to protect their rights and arrange for the settlement of legal disputes to which they are a party. Each pair of enforcement firms contracts with an arbitration agency, a private court, to settle disputes between their customers, agreeing to accept and enforc...
متن کاملA comparative study of identical VMAT plans with and without jaw tracking technique
The unwanted radiation transmission through the multileaf collimators could be reduced by the jaw tracking technique which is commercially available on Varian TrueBeam accelerators. On the basis of identical plans, this study aims to investigate the dosimetric impact of jaw tracking on the volumetric-modulated arc therapy (VMAT) plans. Using Eclipse treatment planning system (TPS), 40 jaw-track...

Health plan payments to noncontracted providers.
A recent legal trend involves the resolution of disputes between health plans and nonparticipating providers. These individuals have not entered into a formal participation or services agreement with the health plan, but they may be eligible for and legally entitled to reimbursement for services rendered to plan participants. Resolution of these disputes can hinge on a number of factors, includ...
متن کاملAn Iterated Greedy Algorithm for Flexible Flow Lines with Sequence Dependent Setup Times to Minimize Total Weighted Completion Time
This paper explores the flexile flow lines where setup times are sequence- dependent. The optimization criterion is the minimization of total weighted completion time. We propose an iterated greedy algorithm (IGA) to tackle the problem. An experimental evaluation is conducted to evaluate the proposed algorithm and, then, the obtained results of IGA are compared against those of some other exist...
